This is the inaugural release in Jura's Two-One-Two range, a series of annual limited edition bottlings. Distilled on Jura in 2006, this expression matured in American white oak bourbon barrels before being finished in Chinkapin oak casks, a wood native to eastern and central North America. Bottled at 13 years old, only 6,000 bottles were produced. The name, Two-One-Two, refers to the Jura community consisting of only 212 islanders, unrelated to the 212 area code of New York City. The scent offers notes of lemon and poppy seed sponge cake, complemented by lemon zest, cinnamon French toast, and buttery caramel, with hints of lemon drizzle cake, cinnamon spice, and creamy toffee. On the palate, one can discern treacle, cooked apple, lemon curd, and boiled fruit sweets, all supported by praline. The aftertaste lingers with rich notes of baklava and a sweet nuttiness.
