This offering from Whisky Works originates from an unnamed, now-silent distillery in Speyside. Distilled in September 1998, it was one of the final production runs before the distillery ceased operations, allowing us to potentially discern its origin. Over its two-decade maturation, the majority of the ageing occurred in American white oak barrels. However, it was finished in Cognac barriques for the final seven months prior to bottling. These finishing casks previously held Cognac distilled in 1998 from the Bourgoin Estate in southwest France. A limited edition of 1,618 bottles was released at 47.1% ABV. The aroma presents sweet notes of freshly cut grass, lemon drizzle, and Parma violets. The palate features the taste of raspberry and white chocolate muffin, balanced with cut herbs and Turkish delight, accompanied by milk chocolate and a hint of treacle. The finish lingers with the flavour of syrup sponge and vanilla cream.
